Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

Traveling to all-inclusive resorts or places where you are advised to not leave the resort, can be intimidating. I love staying in a nice resort, but I also love to be able to explore a a new place in its entirety. We recently visited Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, and it was the perfect combination of a luxury resort with plenty of room to explore.

Casa de Campo is a massive 7,000 acre resort in La Romana in the Dominican Republic. The resort features luxury rooms suites as well as beautiful 3-10 bedroom villas. The oceanfront villas are to die for, with infinity pools that make it difficult to separate the pool view from the ocean view. You can also opt for a more secluded villa, if that is your style. I know that is what Beyonce and the Kardashians had in mind when they chose to stay at Casa de Campo. 😉

FOOD AT CASA DE CAMPO

Casa de Campo has everything under the sun in terms of food. You can dine like a king or like a local, in a variety of settings. One evening, we ate Italian cuisine in the midst of the ruins of La Romana. On another evening, we enjoyed Spanish tapas aside yachts in the marina. There is a lovely beach side restaurant, so you don’t have to wander far from the comfort of your beach chair.

SPA AT CASA DE CAMPO

Perhaps my favorite part of Casa de Campo is the spa. We selected a 60 minute classic massage and a trip to our private water sanctuary for an hour. The water sanctuary will forever remain a spa highlight. We were escorted to a private, indoor and outdoor sanctuary (literally) that featured a steam, sauna, hot pool and cold pool. There are instructions on how to move through each and the bodily benefits to the system. The massage we received was also wonderful, relaxing and professional.

The most fun aspect of this resort is golf cart transportation. You are given a golf cart upon arrival to make each corner of the resort accessible on your own.

ACTIVITIES AT CASA DE CAMPO

If you are looking for something other than the beach, La Romana village and Altos de Chavón is an exciting cultural experience, designed as a replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village with artists studios, St. Stanislaus Church, a 5,000-seat amphitheater and sweeping views of the Chavón River as well as the Caribbean.

You can also organize a catamaran to nearby Catalina island. This island is quite, tiny and remote. The water is tranquil and the ambiance is quiet. It is a peaceful escape that will make it hard to leave.

GOLF AT CASA DE CAMPO

I am not a golfer, but if you are, Casa de Campo features three championship golf courses, including Teeth of the Dog, the #1 course in the Caribbean. The views from the course are beautiful. It is worthwhile to adventure along the course, even if you don’t play.

Casa de Campo is a refreshing escape away from the craziness of Punta Cana and other popular resorts in the Dominican. Put your adventure hat on and get to planning your next stay 🙂
