Grand Hotel Capodimonte is an amazing four-star luxury hotel in Sorrento, Italy. We made the decision to stay in Sorrento during our trip to the Italian coast. This made for fairly easy day trips to Capri, Amalfi, Positano, and Path of Gods. Sorrento is still less crowded than the typical coastal tourist spots (side note: this makes hotels a better value, too).
As you enter Grand Hotel Capodimonte, you feel as if you are entering into the side of a mountain. The entrance is rocky and rustic, but maintains its luxury feel.
There is not a bad view in the entire hotel although, be sure to book an ocean view room. I wasn’t able to go in other rooms, but ours was spacious and air conditioned, a rarity in many European hotels.
I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful views from every point in this hotel. Our balcony. The restaurants. The pool. Stunning. You can even see Mount Vesuvius in the distance!
Perhaps my favorite part of Grand Hotel Capodimonte is the pools. There are six waterfall style pools overlooking beautiful Sorrento. The best element is that you can find hidden corners to lay out and relax. This isn’t your traditional pool feature and I am certain you will be as amazed as I was. A great pool makes all the difference when you are ready for relaxation after a day of exploring Italy!
I am a big fan of food, specifically breakfast food. My family makes fun of me because my first question about hotels is always “is there a buffet breakfast”? Well, let me tell you, the breakfast buffet lived up to its TripAdvisor review hype. Fresh fruit, omelette bar, carbs galore. And all with consumed with a breathtaking view of Sorrento.
Of course, the hotel is incredibly convenient to central Sorrento. Each night, we would walk to the marina to grab a bite to eat or an after dinner treat. If we desired to go a longer distance, the hotel was very helpful in arranging transportation. I can’t say enough great things about Grand Hotel Capodimonte.
