It is well worth a day trip to explore and reminisce among the greats of English literature, history and culture. The city is very walkable and you could explore almost every inch on foot in one day. The Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe with over 12 million printed items. It is also the second largest library in Britain. Unfortunately, we visited Oxford on a Sunday, the only day the library happens to be closed. We circled the library a few times, dreaming of what it would be like to study in a place of historical significance.

The Eagle and Child is where well known authors, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkein, spent their time writing and conversing. C.S. Lewis wrote Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters and the Great Divorce. J.R.R. Tolkein wrote a little known series called Lord of the Rings. We grabbed a beer and dreamed of what it would be like to meet these two legends.
