Nashville, Tennessee is full of character and bustling with newness. If you visit Nashville, you will most likely find that very few people are actually from Nashville. Because of this, Nashville is a unique travel destination that has something for everyone. You might know Nashville as the home of country music, the bachelorette capital of the USA, the booming business market, the haven of curated restaurant concepts or the home of the Predators ice hockey team. Like I said, there is truly something for everyone. I have been to Nashville several times and I discover more of its charm, boldness and excitement with every visit. Here are my top things to do in Nashville Tennessee.
Adele’s: this may or may not break your bank, but it is well worth it. An upscale atmosphere, a great wine selection, gnocchi, chicken, duck and salads with a spin. Top off your meal with some warm chocolate budino.
Edley’s BBQ: unmatched barbeque in the trendy 12 South neighborhood
Pharmacy Burger: one of the best burgers I have ever consumed (and I don’t toss that recognition around lightly). Pharmacy also has a great beer selection that will make you branch out from your normal Mic Ultra.
DeSano Pizza: a delicious, cozy neighborhood pizza spot. Bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy with pizza.
Burger Up: also located in 12 South, this is more than your average burger place. The fried mac & cheese bites and quinoa fritters are a must!
Whiskey Kitchen: wonderfully large salads and clever drinks mixed with an upbeat atmosphere.
L.A. Jackson: a rooftop bar at the Thompson Hotel in The Gulch. It has sweeping views of Nashville, an outdoor atmosphere and a celebratory vibe.
Frothy Monkey: two words – avocado. toast. Every millennial’s dream. Order at the counter and find your way to a patio seat for maximum brunch enjoyment.
Fido: features every breakfast and lunch staple you could desire. Order a McFido or their to-die-for french toast. If you dine for lunch, french fries with a smoked turkey and brie sandwich is the go-to.
Five Daughter’s Bakery: 100 layer donut. That is all.
Jeni’s Ice Cream: I know it’s not a only top things to do in Nashville, but how could you possibly pass up Jeni’s?!
21 South: home of the “I believe in Nashville” sign, Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James, and southern staples like Bar Taco, Jeni’s and Taqueria del Sol.
Honky Tonk: sometimes I like to be cheesy and follow the crowd. I know Honky Tonk won’t make everyone’s list of top things to do in Nashville Tennessee. Some of my favorite nights have been spent in Honky Tonk. There is live music, entertainment and karaoke. It’s perfect if you want to sing at the top of your lungs and not be heard by anyone (which is how my friends prefer I sing anyhow)
Grand Ole Opry: I am (shamelessly) a die-hard Carrie Underwood fan. When Carrie Underwood was at the Opry, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see her. Opry tickets will not break the bank and you get the rare chance to see a variety of country artists. The artists are often not added until a few days leading up to the concert, making it all the more exciting. My night at the Opry features Lennon & Maisy Stella, The Band Perry and Carrie Underwood. It was my country music fan girl dream come true.
Arrington Vineyards: drive 25 minutes outside of Nashville and you will stumble upon this vast, beautiful winery. Bring a picnic blanket and a well-crafted cheese board. When you arrive, purchase a bottle of wine or a flight. You cannot beat the view!
