Major Recap: Barnsley Resort

Barnsley Resort is a sweet little property near Rome, Georgia, about an hour away from Atlanta. Hear me when say it is a great weekend getaway for all of you southeastern friends. Sometimes you just want to hop in the car and get out of town for the weekend. Something quiet, something close. Well this is it! The property is full of history and charm with plenty of activities. You can bike, hike, swim, spa, golf, shoot, horseback ride. Barnsley is your oyster. Plus, Barnsley has a range of accommodations, from a modern-designed Inn to the more classically designed cottages.

Here is a break down of some of the key factors that make Barnsley so great.

Vibe: Southern charm mixed with authentic Georgia history. The story of how the property came to be is a love story of epic proportions. The new Barnsley Inn has a more casual, modern, upscale Southern feel.

The Accommodations: You can opt to stay in a cottage or in the brand new Inn, which opened in March 2018. The Inn features 55 guestrooms, living room and grand staircase. There are 90 cottage rooms and suites on property, which provide a home away from home feel. The cottages range from one-bedroom to four bedrooms.

Perfect For: Families, couples, or girls and guys groups looking to escape for a day or two. It is a quiet retreat perfect for when you need to hit the reset button, or when you need another option for entertaining the kids. You can make your vacation as busy or as restful as you would like. To my brides – it is a stunning setting for a wedding!

Wow Factor: In the spirit of repetition, the new Inn is incredible. The rooms are spacious with gorgeous mahogany beams and plenty of natural light. And, I should mention the bathroom amenities made from the Barnsley spa with a custom lavender and peppermint scent. They’re quite soothing. My personal favorite WOW factor is the Barnsley ruins. Barnsley Resort has a long history that begins with a sweet love story. In the 1800’s, Godfrey Barnsley wanted to build a Southern estate for his beautiful bride, Julia. She sadly passed away in Savannah, but Barnsley was inspired by her to continue to build. The story lives on today with the red brick ruins of the mansion on the Barnsley property. Barnsley Resort even has a resident historian to tell you the tales of the Barnsley family and how the gardens are kept alive to this day.
