Welcome to the MT Love List, a collection of our favorite hotels, resorts and destinations. February is the month of love, so why not roll with the theme! We’re kicking off our first MT Love List with the domestic travel edition. International travel, right now, is full of hoops to jump through with covid tests, authorization forms, and more. It’s navigable and exciting, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea for a relaxing vacation. Domestic travel is just a bit more feasible. And, if you find yourself in a quarantine situation, chances are you’re not too far from home.
At Major Traveler, we believe that you don’t travel until you know the possibilities. We want to equip you with a few of our favorites so that when you’re sitting at dinner and think, “let’s go somewhere next month”, you have a reference point to start thinking about your trip.
This list combines some of our most popular client bookings along with our personal team favorites. We’d also love to know what’s on your USA love list! Feel free to share with us in the comments! In the meantime, let’s dream about a little travel.
This is a Major Traveler client favorite! Sedona is a beautiful city situated at the base of the red rocks in Arizona. We especially love Enchantment’s casita studio rooms with a cozy fireplace and private deck. You know a place is special when it is equally perfect for honeymooners and families. For the relaxation seeker, you can spend your days at the Mii Amo spa soaking in unique rituals and treatments. More adventurous? You can take a day trip to see the Grand Canyon or get out early to explore the Red Rocks!
Maybe it’s the Georgia in us or maybe it’s the fact that The Cloister is iconic to the Southeast, but we are a big fan of this property. We’ve planned mini-moons, girl’s weekend, family getaways, and more. You can take your pick of accommodations based on your price point and desires for a getaway. We love the cottages – they’re perfect for sharing with another family! We also love the River View rooms at The Cloister and being steps away from a beautiful Sea Island Sunset. Our personal favorite activity is renting bikes at Sea Island and taking the 5-mile trek to St. Simons for a grouper sandwich at Mullet Bay.
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll know that we are very partial to the magic of Deer Valley. Maybe it’s the casual environment of an all-skiiers resort or maybe it’s the cookies the size of your head at lunch. Maybe it’s both! The Montage is a MT client favorite in both summer and winter. It’s perfectly situated at the base of the mountain in Empire Pass. We love that this area of the mountain is a little bit quieter and more low key, yet well located to the hustle and bustle if you so wish to seek it out. It’s tough to decide what we love most, but well, that would have to be the complimentary nightly Montage s’mores.
In recent months, we have seen a desire among our clients to explore some iconic US landmarks. One of these is Moab, Utah, Arches National Park and Canyonlands. Sorrel River Ranch sits right on the Colorado River and offers ample activities – horseback riding, jeep tours, mountain biking, hot air balloons and river rafting. Plus, you’re conveniently located for daily hikes within Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Oh and PS – all food is fresh, in season and farm-to-table concepts. Could we ask for anything more?!
Some of our most popular requests lately go a little like this, “I want tropical and beachy, but in the US, but not Miami, more quiet and peaceful, good food is a must and not a far flight”. One of our solutions is the Florida Keys! Sure, the Keys don’t have the world’s best beaches, but it’s tropical and a guaranteed warm for most of the year. Cheeca Lodge has become a client favorite in Islamorada. It’s an affordable quick getaway with chic accommodations and in an oceanfront setting. Pro tip – go now while the cruise ships are on pause and you can get some rare peace and quiet in the Keys!
We have to include Hawaii on our love list! Hawaii consists of multiple islands all with their individual charm and character. We have been loving the Andaz Maui lately for clients young and old. Whether it’s the multiple pools, the chic beach chairs, or the ever-so-convenient pool bar. The Andaz gives you the posh-ness of Maui mixed with that low-key Hawaii vibe.
The Four Seasons Philadelphia will be two years old this August, making it a very new and fresh property. It is located at the top of the tallest building in the city so the views literally cannot be beat. The lobby and restaurant are located on the highest floor and made entirely of windows, making it the most breathtaking place to have a meal. Even after a year of its opening, there would be a 2 hour wait just to sit at the bar. The food is phenomenal, the beds are the coziest, and it is the perfect place to stay in one of America’s most historical, and fun, cities.
