I am craving seclusion. Even after much solitude in social distancing times, I am still desiring an escape from it all. A place where I can truly relax. I imagine you’re feeling the same way, too? Especially you moms and dads who have been cooped up with your children. As normal life makes a slow rebound, it’s inevitable that our social distancing mindsets will take a while to come to normal terms as well. I’ve wrapped up my top 7 private beach hideaways in the Caribbean, where you can guarantee well beyond 6 feet from any other human you encounter.
If you’re nervous about the confines of a hotel room, then Jade Mountain is the place for you! Jade Mountain features 29 open air suites with unimaginable views of the Piton Mountains and the sea. The design is incredibly organic and dramatic, with infinity pools that seem to float in space. The food is carefully crafted and served by a James Beard Award winning chef. Oh, and did I mention that a dedicated team of butlers is onsite to ensure personalized service that caters to your every need.
Private Island? Yes, please! Anguilla is an island paradise 30 minutes by boat from St. Martin. It’s known for having some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. One of the most fun things to do is rent a jeep and beach hop around the island. Belmond Cap Juluca is a small, recently renovated, resort on the calm and pristine Maundays Bay. The accommodations are unique in that they are whitewashed casitas that have you feeling like you transported to Europe. You’re far away from the noise of the news and you can tune into the ocean breeze instead.

On the island of Eleuthera lies a special place called The Cove. It is a boutique resort with a private white sand beach, open-air sunset bar and calm crystal-clear waters. Our favorite room for a couple is a Kamalame Cottage, a free-standing cottage surrounded by Kamalame trees. Many of the rooms are called “Sanctuary” suites because that is just what they are – a sanctuary. If you want to bring the whole family along, The Cove has amazing 1, 2 and 3-bedroom villas.

Turks and Caicos
Aman properties are known for being celebrity retreats that offer the utmost privacy and seclusion. Amanyara, located in Turks and Caicos, is located on the edge of a 5,000 acre nature and wildlife reserve. The accommodations are individual “pavilions” that vary in views. Many feature private swimming pools and outdoor lounge areas with daybeds and relaxing elements. It’s the perfect place to get away, perhaps without ever being found again.
