Major Hotel Recap: Jaya House, Siem Reap

A hotel can make or break your travel experience. I often consider hotels a destination in themselves. There are a few moments in this traveling gig when I come across hotels that impact me. Jaya House River Park in Siem Reap, Cambodia is one of them. Jaya House Siem Reap is a boutique hotel in the heart of Siem Reap.

The owner has a unique mission behind his hotel and is committed to supporting non-profits in Siem Reap and Cambodia. Every service offered is intended to give jobs and education to staff members. And with this, I have never experienced a more 5-star staff. So much so, we now follow each other on Instagram! The hotel is boutique luxury, but the staff is what truly makes it 5-star quality.

The Rooms

The room product at Jaya House has a solid sense of place. When you wake up, you know you are in Asia. The rooms are spacious, with a separate, small sitting area. The bathrooms are also quite large! Some rooms will have a bathtub, whereas others will have a larger shower. After spending your day exploring Angkor Wat, nothing feels better than an A+ shower.

The Amenities

One of the best things about Jaya House is that they do not nickel and dime you. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Everything in the mini bar is included. When they noticed I was drinking more diet cokes than the average human, they even double stacked them for me! Laundry is also included! Siem Reap is likely going to be a stop on a multi-day (maybe week) Southeast Asia itinerary. I can’t even describe how nice it is to have a hotel willing to do your laundry at no extra cost!

When you decide to break from touring and relax a bit, you can choose between two of Jaya House’s pools. The staff will cater to your every need here while you soak in the scenery and cool water. You can also choose to relax in the spa. Did I mention that a DAILY spa treatment is also an added amenity here? It is indeed.

I wasn’t expecting Cambodia to capture my attention in the way that it did. Jaya House and the warm, welcoming, intentional staff is one of the reasons why I fell in love with the country in just 2 days. There is so much more to a hotel than just the room product. The caring nature of the staff can truly make a difference! Hint, hint, wink, wink, this is why you should use a travel advisor for each trip!
